for those of us older than say, 30, if you're american, your christmas childhood memories probably includes a lot of holiday movies and tv show specials. a charlie brown christmas, it's a wonderful life, a christmas carol and one of my favorites, white christmas all started playing sometime before we got out of school making me SO anxious to get out for the holiday breaks - even though there was only a few weeks to go, christmas seemed SO far away. back in the day (i'm so old LOL) most of the holiday music was influenced by the great 50's jazz and that's where harry connick comes into play in my holiday play list. "what a night - a christmas album" has brand new christmas arrangements that are reminiscent of what i call great holiday jazz. from the opening song "it's the most wonderful time of the year" (one of my fav's) to the telling "christmas day" and "let there be peace on earth" to the "what are you doing new year's eve" (there's the song again...) the album reads like an old hollywood 50'smovie soundtrack starring bing, danny, rosemary, marilyn, grace and frank. may the christmas memories begin...

Christmas with Amy - then and now...
growing up in georgia, christmas was SUCH a magical time of year. i have a very vivid imagination, so I can very clearly remember hearing reindeer on the roof one one night and another night santa actually came in a gave me one of the cookies we left behind for him! hahahahha! but one of my fondest memories of christmas is A Christmas Album by Amy Grant. i always wanted to have a "tender tennessee christmas" while having a "sleigh ride" and singing "the christmas song". the wonderful memories of christmas's past are always brought to life when i listen to this wonderful album by one of my favorite artists. It's only $7.99 on itunes right not. Go download it and put it into your favorite christmas playlists on ur ipod, iphone or ipad.
PS... how awesome would it be to have three feet of snow and a cabin at christmas - that's what I'm gonna do this year!
Apparently Amy loves christmas more than i do - she has i think THREE christmas albums out - then again she has been recording for over 30 years...

Ledisi's Christmas Album - a funk R&B Gospel love child with Jesus thrown in too!
This album is the 1st album i'm gonna tell you guys about...
It's SO beautiful - 1st she's an amazing R&B singer and this album has some really cool versions of some traditional tunes like "Have Yourself..." & "Silent Night" but also gives love with some tunes you might not have heard but are great like "Be there for Christmas" and in the middle of the album is one of my all time favorite holiday songs - an unknown jazz classic "What are you doing New Years Eve" and to top it all off is the AMAZING title track "It's Christmas" - just perfect!
This is a definite download from itunes and play it around the house - it's SUPERB!
If you guys have any amazing albums - leave a comment!

Nichelle Thrower in the Studio
I shot Nichelle last year when We Are Heroes won ABDC - she was so fearless i loved her. then i shot her when she was dancing with kimberly cole and got some of the FUNNEST shots i've ever taken from a live show. her headshot session definitely got my creative juices flowing. I love how her white jeans disappear into the background. I live for fun shoots like this - be fearless when shooting!
